Broadcast Media Buyer

Cactus is seeking a deeply experienced, strategic and thoughtful Broadcast Media Buyer to join our growing media team. The Broadcast Media Buyer is responsible for managing the day-to-day needs of broadcast campaigns and is the primary buyer for a group of markets. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution, management, optimization and billing reconciliation of traditional broadcast campaigns (TV and Radio) across various accounts. You will report to the Broadcast Media Director, and work within a team of full-time buyers.

You will operate as a savvy negotiator, securing tremendous value for our client partners, manage the full lifecycle of buys across your markets, use data and research to help guide your buying decisions, and evolve and grow as the traditional and digital media landscape changes

Salary:

$70,000-$80,000 commensurate with experience

Location:

In person (hybrid schedule of three days / week in the office, two days/week remote) is preferred, but we are open to remote. Will require working MST hours.

Job Roles

Negotiation & Procurement: Lead the negotiation of broadcast rates, added value, and premium placements for local broadcast television, cable television and radio to ensure maximum ROI.
Campaign Execution: Manage the full lifecycle of the buy, from sending RFPs and evaluating station proposals to issuing insertion orders and managing traffic instructions to billing reconciliation and post-buy delivery.
Buy Stewardship: Actively manage the makegood process in real-time, partnering with sellers to ensure integrity of buys is maintained and required makegood documentation is collected and organized in real-time.
Delivery + Optimization: Monitor ongoing campaign performance in real-time and compile impactful "post-buy" reports with key learnings to drive future optimizations.
Invoice Reconciliation: Partner with Broadcast Operations and Billing teams, and manage a Broadcast Coordinator to successfully reconcile vendor invoices in a timely and accurate fashion. This will include performing invoice review relative to Strata Buy Summaries, identify discrepancies and credits, create required documentation and perform invoice markup, and ensure alignment between client billing and vendor invoices.
Market Analysis: Utilize industry tools (e.g., Nielsen, Strata/FreeWheel) and inputs from actual market conditions to analyze market trends, ratings, and audience delivery to inform buying decisions
Relationship Management: Foster and maintain strong, productive relationships with media vendors and station reps to stay ahead of inventory shifts and special opportunities.
Collaboration: Work closely with the media planners and other buyers to ensure broadcast strategies align with broader multi-channel marketing goals.
Budget Oversight: Meticulously track spending and reconcile billing to ensure financial accuracy across all broadcast placements.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in broadcast media buying within an agency environment.
Strong understanding of the evolving broadcast landscape and shifting media trends.
High proficiency with industry standard tools and platforms, specifically Freewheel/STRATA and Nielsen).
Proven track record of successful negotiation, broadcast buying and buy management
Proficiency with industry standard tools and platforms (e.g., STRATA, Mediaocean, Nielsen, Comscore).
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and experience working within modern communication tools like email, Slack, project management software, etc.
Highly analytical with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights.
A proactive, "can-do" attitude that thrives in a collaborative, remote-first, and fast-paced environment.
Experience working in the lottery category is a plus.
