Cactus Leadership

Norm has been Chief Creative Officer at Cactus since 2003, putting his mark on every piece of creative that comes through our building. At the core of Norm’s philosophy is the notion that everyone needs to be creative. The term “creative” is not individual to the designers and copywriters of Cactus, but for our entire team. It’s about solving problems in unexpected ways and creating advantages. “If everyone is doing their job, they are being creative. It’s about being resourceful and connecting dots in a way that’s unexpected or different.” With over 20 years of experience in the business, Norm’s blue-collar, “work hard, play hard” approach to creative has earned Cactus accolades from Cannes, The One Show, SXSW and countless others.

Norm shares his ample knowledge (and Dad jokes) as a guest lecturer in his spare time, speaking on creative thinking and design. He served as an Adjunct Professor for eight years at his alma mater, CU Boulder, and was named Alumni of the Year for CU’s Advertising and Journalism School in 2013.

And he has the awards to show for it, with accolades from OBIE, AIGA, The ADDYs, Creativity Magazine, Ad Age, The Webbys, The Denver 50, The Art Director’s Club of Denver and others. Brian leads, encourages and works directly with our teams throughout all aspects of brand development and implementation to ensure we craft messaging, advertising and design that resonates and creates a common bond between brands and their audiences. That is, when he’s not making people laugh.

Kris pretty much keeps Cactus in business. She brings more than 20 years of accounting and business management experience, and handles all contractual and financial aspects of the work we produce on behalf of our clients. Read: all of the very important stuff most of us know nothing about. This includes everything from overseeing agency financials to troubleshooting and updating agency computer and network systems. And, of course, keeping our team well outfitted with equipment and supplies. Needless to say, without Kris, we might not be here. She has been at Cactus for 12 years, providing a firm foundation for all of our operations.

With a background in design and code, he lets research and brand strategy lead the way, creating digital experiences that foster curiosity and deep engagement. When Andrew’s not busy applying his mantra to clients like Arrow, The Colorado Lottery, American Crew, Gaia or TD Ameritrade, he shares his talents with tomorrow’s digital thought leaders. He serves as faculty at the University of Colorado IxDMA program, an innovative graduate program focused on experience design, technology and leadership. When not in the office or the classroom, Andrew enjoys traveling, caffeinating, outdoors-ing and biking around town.

Sarah has never met a medium she doesn’t like. She may be a Senior Designer, but she also considers herself an artist, illustrator, art director, communicator and master puzzle solver. Sarah has a particular passion for developing consistent design languages for the brands she has worked with, including Oreo, Benjamin Moore, Geico, PING and Walmart. She was born and raised in Colorado and loves living here. So much so, that she returned to Colorado after earning her B.S. in Communications from Northwestern University, and then again after sharpening her advertising skills at The Martin Agency in Richmond, VA. Sarah is now happy to call Denver home, living and playing here with her husband and two children.

Jamie puts the phrase “get stuff done” to shame. As detail-oriented as they come, she whips projects and processes into shape in her sleep. With a background in production, including here at Cactus, Jamie’s experience equips her to manage the most complex of campaigns and budgets. Her focus at Cactus is on outlining and tracking scope of work, budgets, deliverables and deadlines, leading the work through the agency from inception to final delivery. Basically, every client and Cacti gets the Jamie touch, making everything just a little bit better.
